The scope of works for this engineering package shall comprise the design, manufacture, supply, works testing, delivery to site, offloading, positioning, installation, configuration, testing and commissioning of a suitable telemetry solution to comply with the requirements listed in this document.  It also comprises the necessary configuration, testing and commissioning of the telemetry master station to accept and communicate successfully with the on-site telemetry solution.

Specific Scope Overview

  • Replacement of the 13 existing Lee Dickens RTUs with a single standalone Xylem ATU900 Modbus Mains RTU (Panel build option). Also, install and configure an IoLogik MOXA hardwired to Modbus convertor in each of the three existing Telemetry panels - this will require the moving, to one side, one or more of the existing RTUs to free up space. An RS485 Serial Network cable will be required to be installed between Panel #2 and Panel #1 and from Panel #3 to Panel #1. Also, the MOXA unit mounted in Panel #1 will have a Serial connection (RS485). The Serial Network from each of the MOXA Units will terminate in Panel #1 and be connected to an Interface PLC (Simatic S7 1200 Series), also mounted in Panel #1. This Interface PLC will manage the data collection from the MOXA Units and pass forward the required information to the standalone RTU. MOXA #1 will require 8 Analogue and 64 Digital inputs. MOXA #2 will require 8 Analogue and 64 Digital inputs. MOXA #3 will require 16 Analogue and 96 Digital inputs.
  • A Nairn WwTW site should be created on the Open Enterprise Top End with the full IO for the site but with all signals disabled with the exception of the standard suite signals for an ATU900 RTU and the signals associated with LD0220 (New Nairn WwTW M). Signals from LD0220 shall be moved over onto the MOXA unit and be communicated to the new RTU via the Interface PLC (Note: a number of signals need to be hardwired directly to the new RTU and therefore are not required to be wired to the MOXA unit. These are identified in the Telemetry Workbook for the project). All enabled signals shall be Sensor to Screen tested. The Nairn WwTW site will be made "live" on the Top End under a Hot Swap arrangement. The existing "New Nairn WwTW M" will have its signals made "SPARE" and remain powered On, as the other existing RTUs for the site communicate with the Top End via this Master.
  • Once the ATU900 site has been made "Live" on the System, the signals associated with LD0221 (New Nairn WwTW S1) and LD00222 (New Nairn WwTW S2) shall be moved over onto the MOXA unit and be communicated to the new RTU via the Interface PLC. These signals shall be Sensor to Screen tested. The signals will be made SPARE on the S1 and S2 RTUs.
  • The signals associated with LD0223 (New Nairn WwTW S3), LD00224 (New Nairn WwTW S4), LD00225 (New Nairn WwTW S5) and LD00226 (New Nairn WwTW S6) shall be moved over onto the MOXA unit located in their Telemetry Panel (#2) and be communicated to the new RTU via the Interface PLC (PLC located in Telemetry Panel #1). These signals shall be Sensor to Screen tested. The signals will be made SPARE on the S3, S4, S5 and S6 RTUs.
  • The signals associated with LD0227 (New Nairn WwTW S7), LD00228 (New Nairn WwTW S8), LD00229 (New Nairn WwTW S9), LD00230 (New Nairn WwTW S10), LD00231 (New Nairn WwTW S11) and LD00232 (New Nairn WwTW S12) shall be moved over onto the MOXA unit located in their Telemetry Panel (#3) and be communicated to the new RTU via the Interface PLC (PLC located in Telemetry Panel #1). These signals shall be Sensor to Screen tested. The signals will be made SPARE on the S7, S8, S9, S10, S11 and S12 RTUs
  • Once all the signals have been successfully tested, the existing Lee Dickens RTUs shall be removed from their associated telemetry panel and all remaining required wiring dressed in and tidied away. Existing wiring and electrical spurs not required are to be removed. The existing "New Nairn WwTW" Lee Dickens sites are to be deleted from the Top End
  • Full E2E test of all signals as detailed in the Telemetry Workbook for the project - this will require System Integration support and shall be part of the scope of works for this project.
  • Documentation will be provided and end of job and will consist of (O&M manual, RTU software, Telemetry test sheets and as built drawings.

Any key successes
The Key success from the job was that it was delivered on time with no major issues. The replacement of the old Lee Dickens RTU’s aloud these units to be used as spares for other RTU’s within the area.
